Firecrawl is seeking a highly motivated and product-focused engineer to enhance how AI agents discover, understand, and utilize Firecrawl's capabilities. This role emphasizes rapid iteration, rigorous A/B testing, and translating learnings into product improvements for a non-human user base. It requires a blend of scientific rigor in product development, including hypothesis formation, experimentation, and data analysis, rather than pure research or data science. Prior experience with AI agents is beneficial, but strong engineering skills, a fast shipping cadence, and a quick learning ability are paramount. Firecrawl provides the easiest way to convert web content into data usable by AI agents, solving a critical problem for LLM development. The company has experienced significant growth, backed by substantial funding, and is building foundational AI infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Design and ship A/B tests across agent-facing surfaces like MCPs, CLIs, skills, APIs, and documentation to analyze agent usage.
- Translate experiment results into product enhancements rapidly.
- Monitor emerging agent tools, models, and harnesses to understand their implications for Firecrawl.
- Formulate and test hypotheses regarding how agents discover, interpret, and select tools and capabilities in production environments.
- Take ownership of problems from inception to shipped solution.
- Apply scientific rigor to product development without making it a research-heavy endeavor.
Requirements
- Proven track record of shipping high-quality products quickly, not just prototypes or presentations.
- Proficiency in designing A/B tests, analyzing behavioral data, and acting on insights.
- Familiarity with agent-facing surfaces such as MCPs, CLIs, skills, APIs, and documentation.
- Active engagement with and understanding of emerging AI tools, models, and harnesses.
- Genuine curiosity about agent tool selection, capability interpretation, and product interaction.
- High degree of agency and ability to operate independently in an evolving field.
- Experience as an ex-founder, early startup engineer, prolific open-source contributor, or equivalent demonstrated work.
