About the job

Elastic is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Integrations Team. This role is crucial for building how Elastic integrates with the AI ecosystem, making it easy for developers to find, connect to, and use Elastic within AI assistants and agentic tools. The team owns developer-facing surfaces like language clients, CLI, MCP server, and third-party integrations, ensuring Elastic is accessible wherever developers work. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, contribute to product direction, and collaborate closely with product teams and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Build and evolve the Elastic MCP server and its infrastructure, primarily using Go.
  • Develop the platform for universal agent skills, including portable format, authoring/publishing tools, and linting.
  • Establish correctness standards for skills and tools through evaluations.
  • Design and deliver integrations for Elastic within third-party AI ecosystems, collaborating with product teams and partners.
  • Contribute to the Elastic CLI to improve developer and agent efficiency.
  • Develop, maintain, and support libraries, tools, and integrations for the Elastic Stack using languages like Go and Rust.
  • Apply product thinking to team initiatives, forming and defending opinions on development priorities based on the ecosystem.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience in backend systems, services, or libraries.
  • Proficiency with AI/ML frameworks and a working understanding of LLMs, agents, agent skills, and protocols like MCP.
  • Significant recent working experience with Go and ideally other languages.
  • Knowledge of client-server networking, HTTP, and RESTful APIs.
  • Comfort reading and contributing to unfamiliar codebases and languages.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices in software engineering.
  • Strong product thinking and interest in the wider ecosystem.
  • Focus on usability and developer experience.
  • Comfort with context-switching and a rapidly changing environment.
  • Genuine interest in technology and exploring multiple programming languages.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work as part of a globally distributed team.
  • Clear thinking, self-motivation, and ability to learn and work independently.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay base
