About the job

The Autonomous Ops & Maintenance (ATOM) Team is developing an innovative platform that leverages artificial intelligence and automated systems to empower engineering groups in safely executing complex operations and software maintenance. Their primary objective is to minimize repetitive toil while delivering the precise visibility, oversight, and trust necessary to run automated solutions in mission-critical environments. This platform acts as an intelligent virtual collaborator, directly offloading routine operational overhead that currently requires manual intervention. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help design and scale our foundational architecture, synthesizing vast technical datasets into rich structured knowledge, engineering AI-driven components capable of analyzing intricate operational workflows, and constructing highly reliable systems to execute automated modifications seamlessly.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a greenfield initiative from inception to scale, shaping foundational product architecture and engaging directly with users to refine early concepts.
  • Build mission-critical solutions that customers depend on daily.
  • Build fault-tolerant, horizontally scalable solutions running in multi-tenant environments.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience
  • BS/MS/PhD in a scientific field or equivalent experience
  • Proficient in Go
  • Comfortable building and operating production services end-to-end, independently owning features and components, working through ambiguous technical problems, and being responsible for reliability, observability, and operational quality.
  • Experience with large scale distributed systems
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI coding tools in day-to-day workflows and validate, critique, and refine AI-generated output
  • Experience with Kubernetes, workflow orchestration systems, or building AI agents (bonus)

Benefits

  • New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP)
  • Continuous professional development, product training, and career pathing
  • Intradepartmental mentor and buddy program for in-house networking
  • An inclusive company culture, ability to join our Community Guilds (Datadog employee resource groups)
  • Access to Inclusion Talks, our internal panel discussions
  • Free, global mental health benefits for employees and dependents age 6+
  • Competitive global benefits
