The AI Forward Deployed Engineering (AI FDE) team is a specialized customer-facing AI team focused on helping customers build and productionize AI applications. This role involves working cross-functionally with engineering, product, and developer relations teams, and supporting internal subject matter experts. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with customers, collaborating with teammates, and staying current with GenAI, LLMOps, and broader ML trends.
Responsibilities
- Develop cutting-edge GenAI solutions using Databricks AI research to solve customer problems.
- Manage production rollouts of consumer and internally facing GenAI applications.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers across various domains.
- Present at conferences and establish thought leadership.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to influence priorities and product roadmap.
Requirements
- Experience building GenAI applications, including RAG, multi-agent systems, and Text2SQL, using tools like HuggingFace, LangChain, and DSPy.
- Expertise in deploying production-grade GenAI applications, including evaluation and optimization.
- Extensive hands-on industry data science experience with tools such as pandas, scikit-learn, and PyTorch.
- Experience building production-grade machine learning deployments on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Graduate degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience communicating and teaching technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Passion for collaboration, continuous learning, and driving business value through AI.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for customer visits.
- Native-level fluency in Japanese and professional working proficiency in English.
