About the job
Cerebras Systems is seeking an AI Data Center Infrastructure Engineer to bridge the gap between high-level cluster architecture and practical data center implementation. This role involves defining precise infrastructure designs, including rack layouts, equipment placement, bills of materials, power requirements, and connectivity mapping for compute, network, and storage systems. You will adapt existing designs to specific site constraints while ensuring system performance, reliability, and scalability. Additionally, you will automate design processes through the development of tools, validation checks, and reusable frameworks to enhance deployment speed, accuracy, and operational ease at scale. This position is ideal for an engineer who thrives on detailed systems work, practical problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration with hardware, networking, software, and data center operations teams.
Responsibilities
- Translate cluster architectures and technical requirements into deployment-ready infrastructure designs.
- Produce and maintain rack elevations, equipment layouts, bills of materials, power allocations, port maps, and cable maps.
- Adapt reference designs to site-specific constraints (space, power, cooling, network, logistics, hardware).
- Validate the integration of compute, storage, networking, power, and cabling systems.
- Evaluate design trade-offs to balance performance, reliability, scalability, cost, serviceability, and schedule.
- Collaborate with systems, network, hardware, manufacturing, supply-chain, and data center operations teams.
- Participate in design and deployment-readiness reviews to identify risks and missing requirements.
- Support deployment teams by resolving physical integration issues and documenting design changes.
- Contribute to root-cause analysis of deployment or integration problems and update designs accordingly.
- Develop scripts and tools to automate design generation, BOM creation, cable mapping, and consistency checks.
- Improve templates, standards, documentation, and design processes for repeatability and scalability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- One or more years of relevant experience in infrastructure engineering, data center design, systems integration, or hardware deployment.
- Experience creating or working with rack elevations, equipment layouts, bills of materials, port maps, or cable maps.
- Practical understanding of server, storage, and networking hardware integration.
- Familiarity with data center power, cooling, space, cabling, and serviceability constraints.
- Experience automating technical workflows using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to translate incomplete or changing requirements into actionable designs.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Benefits
- Build a breakthrough AI platform beyond the constraints of the GPU.
- Publish and open source cutting-edge AI research.
- Work on one of the fastest AI supercomputers in the world.
- Job stability with startup vitality.
- Simple, non-corporate work culture that respects individual beliefs.
