About the job
Applied Intuition is seeking a Systems Engineer with strong robotics and software skills to join their autonomous trucking system team. This role involves owning requirements, architecture, and verification for various system components, translating customer needs into detailed specifications, and ensuring their implementation and testing. You will collaborate closely with software, hardware, safety, and test engineers, as well as OEM partners, to bring an L4 autonomous product to production. The position also includes leveraging and developing AI-assisted tools to automate engineering workflows.
Responsibilities
- Translate customer, operational, and regulatory needs into system, subsystem, and component requirements.
- Define subsystems, including their functions, interfaces, and P-diagrams, and obtain review and approval.
- Contribute to writing system architecture as code (SysML v2) using a PR-based workflow.
- Develop diagnostic and fault-management requirements, including fault detection, FTTI, degradation strategies, and minimal-risk maneuvers.
- Conduct safety analyses like STPA and translate unsafe control actions into requirements and test cases.
- Define pass/fail criteria for simulation and in-vehicle testing to ensure requirements are precisely verifiable.
- Maintain end-to-end traceability from capabilities to test results and identify and close gaps in testing.
- Produce ASPICE work products and evidence to prepare the team for assessments.
- Represent systems engineering in reviews with OEM partners and regulators.
- Utilize and build AI-assisted tools, such as LLM agents and MCP integrations, for automation.
Requirements
- 2+ years of systems engineering experience in requirements, functional decomposition, interface definition, and V&V.
- Experience with robotics, autonomous vehicles, or ADAS software systems.
- Hands-on experience with a requirements tool (e.g., Polarion, DOORS, Jama).
- Experience with MBSE / SysML (e.g., Cameo or SysML v2).
- Comfort working with Git, pull requests, Python, and YAML.
- Experience with at least one safety analysis method (e.g., STPA, FMEA, FTA, HARA).
- Clear written communication skills and ability to drive alignment across teams and with external customers.
