About the job
AiPrise is seeking a Staff Software Engineer in Bangalore to define the technical direction for its core compliance orchestration and AI agent systems. This senior individual contributor role involves owning platform architecture, leading complex multi-quarter initiatives, and elevating engineering standards within a rapidly growing team. You will collaborate with leadership to translate customer and regulatory needs into technical strategy and ensure the reliability, security, and data integrity of the platform, which processes verification requests for financial institutions in a regulated environment. This is an opportunity to significantly influence the platform's scalability and contribute directly through coding.
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and multi-quarter technical roadmap for core platform areas (vendor orchestration, case management, platform, or AI agents).
- Lead large, ambiguous technical initiatives from problem framing to delivery and rollout.
- Author and review RFCs, conduct design reviews, and make critical build vs. buy and technical trade-off decisions.
- Establish standards for reliability, security, and data integrity, including SLOs, incident response, and audit-readiness.
- Evolve the orchestration layer to handle significant increases in verification volume and vendor integrations.
- Shape the developer platform, including service boundaries, shared libraries, CI/CD, and observability.
- Advance AI agent systems to production-grade, focusing on evaluation, guardrails, human-in-the-loop workflows, and data pipelines.
- Remain hands-on by prototyping risky components, unblocking critical paths, and shipping foundational code.
- Act as a technical lead and mentor for senior engineers, fostering the growth of future tech leads.
- Partner with founders, engineering managers, and product teams to define the roadmap and translate requirements into technical strategy.
- Represent engineering in technical discussions with enterprise customers.
- Contribute to hiring by designing interviews and calibrating candidate assessments.
Requirements
- 9+ years of experience building and operating production systems, with at least 2 years at Staff-level scope (setting technical direction for multiple teams or a major system).
- Proven track record of leading cross-team technical initiatives from ambiguous problems to successful adoption.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems and backend architecture, including service design, data modeling, API design, event-driven systems, consistency trade-offs, and failure modes.
- Experience designing, scaling, and operating high-throughput, high-reliability systems, including on-call responsibilities.
- Proficiency in at least one of Python, Go, or TypeScript/Node.js, with comfort working across the stack.
- Strong technical writing skills for RFCs, design documents, and postmortems.
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and improving organizational engineering standards.
- Demonstrated judgment in making pragmatic decisions and advocating for technical approaches.
- Experience in FinTech, RegTech, payments, identity verification, or fraud/risk detection is a plus.
- Experience building or operating platforms integrating numerous third-party vendors is a plus.
- Experience shipping production LLM or ML systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with security and compliance engineering (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001) is a plus.
- Experience helping engineering teams scale while maintaining quality and velocity is a plus.
- Frontend experience (React, TypeScript) is a plus.
