Baseten is seeking an AI Engineer to join its rapidly growing Compute organization. This role is crucial for scaling the systems and workflows that balance supply and demand across our GPU fleet. You will design, build, and ship AI-powered workflows to automate manual and repetitive tasks within the capacity lifecycle, allowing the team to focus on critical judgment calls. The ideal candidate will audit existing systems, identify gaps, and rapidly deliver solutions, thinking ahead about the broader system architecture and the role of AI in enhancing existing tooling.
Responsibilities
- Ship AI-powered workflows for Compute and C3 teams, building agents and automations to offload manual work like data pipeline cleanup, migration troubleshooting, and capacity investigation.
- Translate fleet utilization, allocation, and demand-forecasting data into actionable dashboards, alerts, and recommendations for leadership.
- Audit the existing technology stack, identify gaps and missing components, and generate a prioritized backlog of work.
- Quickly ship team-productivity workflows by triaging requests and identifying low-hanging fruit.
- Develop bespoke AI-powered solutions using Claude Code when custom solutions are more appropriate than off-the-shelf tools.
- Design workflows with an understanding of upstream and downstream implications across different teams (Supply, Demand, Engineering) to avoid creating technical debt.
- Integrate third-party APIs and internal systems to ensure reliable data flow between C3, CRM, and Compute systems.
- Document all built solutions to ensure they are discoverable, understandable, and trustworthy.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in AI/automation engineering, workflow automation, or a technical operations role, preferably at a high-growth, AI-native infrastructure or B2B company.
- Experience shipping production agents on Vercel, including building custom internal apps and agents with durable workflows and sandboxed execution.
- Fluency with AI coding assistants and agent tooling such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex.
- Direct experience with a CRM or system-of-record platform like Salesforce.
- A proven track record of owning end-to-end AI and automation workflows.
- Proficiency with integration and automation platforms (e.g., n8n, Zapier, Make, Workato) and a strong understanding of APIs and webhooks.
- Experience in high-growth technology companies, particularly in infrastructure, cloud, or operations-heavy environments.
