Banks and fintechs use Taktile to automate critical decisions, like credit and risk, in real time. We're building the infrastructure that makes financial institutions truly AI-native, and the backend is where the hard problems live. We're growing rapidly with enterprise customers across banking and insurance, and we're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join Team Atlas, a small, high-ownership team focused on the data infrastructure powering our feature computation platform. You'll own critical systems end-to-end, and your decisions will shape the product.
Responsibilities
- Build and operate backend services in Python on AWS, including Lambda functions, DynamoDB, Aurora, and event-driven pipelines handling real production traffic.
- Leverage agentic AI tools as part of your daily workflow.
- Tackle hard backend problems related to latency, reliability, and scale.
- Own systems end-to-end, from architecture and implementation to deployment, monitoring, and incident response.
- Make key architectural decisions with real authority over how things are built.
- Raise the bar for the team through code reviews, mentoring, and improving development tooling and processes.
- Work directly with Product and Design to shape future product development.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience, with a proven track record of leading complex projects in a senior capacity (2+ years).
- Deep expertise building backend systems on cloud platforms, specifically AWS.
- Strong system design skills, including the ability to make and defend architectural trade-offs.
- Depth in at least one of the following areas: data pipelines and storage, event-driven architectures, caching and performance, or serverless systems.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to align technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a hybrid model from our Berlin HQ, London office, or Iasi hub.
