About the job
As an intern on Decagon’s Engineering team, you will be part of a pioneering group shaping the future of intelligent agents. You will contribute directly to production-ready initiatives that address real team needs, gaining hands-on experience and leaving your mark on meaningful, high-visibility work. This is a 12-week internship running June 1 – August 20, 2027, based out of our San Francisco office. This role is designed for candidates graduating between December 2027 and July 2028.
Responsibilities
- Contribute directly to production-ready initiatives.
- Address real team needs.
- Build on industry-leading AI agent platforms.
- Collaborate directly with customers.
- Devise long-term, scalable solutions.
- Build the runtime and model orchestration layer that powers AI agents in production.
- Turn workflows, tools, and guardrails into a reliable, low-latency, and delightful experience for end users.
- Create the platform that customers use to build, maintain, and improve their AI agents.
- Transform complex engineering work into intuitive self-serve products.
- Build and operate the foundations that power Decagon, including networking, data, ML serving, developer platform, and real-time voice.
- Partner closely with product, data, and ML to deliver high-scale, low-latency systems.
Requirements
- Will graduate by summer 2028 with a degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Experience from previous software engineering internships.
- Writes amazing code, fast.
- Experience using AI coding agents as part of development.
- Excited to thrive in a fast-paced environment, continuously learn, and sharpen skills.
- Prior experience working with multi-modal models.
- Experience with distributed systems, data pipelines, or production infrastructure.
- 0→1 product-building experience.
