WRITER is seeking a People Operations Manager to build and enhance its world-class people function. This role is for an individual who excels at systems thinking, operates autonomously, and is passionate about operational excellence, from strategic planning to hands-on execution. You will be responsible for designing and implementing people programs with a focus on scalability, curiosity, and rigor, much like an engineer approaches a product. This central role on the people team will involve all aspects of the employee lifecycle, compliance, systems, analytics, and overall employee experience, contributing to the infrastructure that supports the company's growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead and continuously improve all stages of the employee lifecycle, including pre-boarding, onboarding, role changes, and offboarding.
- Define, document, and enhance people operations processes and best practices.
- Manage people team initiatives from conception to completion, such as company events, employee experience programs, policy rollouts, system implementations, and organizational change management.
- Spearhead automation efforts using WRITER's AI platform to streamline processes and integrate people tools for efficient workflows.
- Administer and optimize HRIS and people tooling, and develop operational dashboards for key people metrics.
- Oversee compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations.
- Conduct internal audits, maintain accurate employee records, update the employee handbook, and develop training and communications on legal and regulatory standards.
- Manage visa processing and global mobility cases in partnership with employees and legal counsel.
- Address employee relations matters with sound judgment, empathy, and professionalism.
- Collaborate with recruiting, finance, legal, IT, and compliance teams to design efficient cross-functional workflows.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in human resources, people operations, or a similar operational role, preferably in a high-growth technology company.
- Proven ability to design and implement processes from the ground up.
- Strong project management skills, including organization, deadline adherence, and managing multiple workstreams.
- Systems-thinking mindset with an aptitude for mapping workflows, identifying automation opportunities, and building for scale.
- Experience with people analytics, including dashboard creation, trend tracking, and data-informed strategy.
- Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms and a history of improving HR operational systems.
- In-depth knowledge of employment law and HR compliance across federal, state, and local regulations.
- High emotional and social intelligence for building relationships across all levels and functions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present clearly and confidently.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR/SPHR certification (preferred).
- Track record of using AI and automation tools to enhance people ops efficiency and employee experience (preferred).
- Experience building databases or improving HR operational infrastructure (preferred).
