Toast is seeking a hands-on Staff Software Engineer to join the GTM & AI Strategy Engineering team. This role focuses on building 0-to-1 tools to revolutionize sales operations, eliminating friction across the Go-To-Market stack by writing code and developing intelligence models. As a technical lead, you will architect and productionize agentic workflows and RAG pipelines, integrate AI services, and maintain high standards for observability and performance monitoring.
Responsibilities
- Architect and code high-performance backend services and ML pipelines.
- Build and prototype new internal products from scratch leveraging LLMs and Agentic AI for account research, lead prioritization, and complex quoting.
- Develop backend connective tissue between custom quoting engine, Salesforce, and internal data lakes for seamless, low-latency end-to-end experiences.
- Solve complex synchronization and architectural challenges across the GTM stack, ensuring scalability and resilience.
- Deliver significant core capabilities with broad impact, turning high-level goals into production-ready code.
- Build flexible, decoupled backend systems that can evolve with the AI strategy.
- Ensure reliability of GTM tools by building deep observability into every service.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in backend languages (Java, Go, Python) with a track record of building complex, distributed systems.
- Practical, hands-on experience building LLM agents in a production environment.
- Ability to implement event-driven architectures and manage data flow across disparate systems with high integrity.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
