Spellbook is seeking a Software Engineer to join their team and contribute to the development of an AI copilot for transactional lawyers. This role involves working within a fast-paced, distributed environment to enhance lawyer workflows and build new features for the Spellbook application. You will leverage cutting-edge large language models (LLMs) from providers like OpenAI and Anthropic to improve application functionality, such as providing document review suggestions. Collaboration with product management and a focus on improving customer experience through the React application and Express/tRPC based API are key aspects of this position. You will also be responsible for improving performance, reliability, and addressing user feedback through bug fixes, as well as building and maintaining application infrastructure on AWS.
Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities for impactful enhancements to lawyer workflows.
- Design, architect, and implement new features in the Spellbook application.
- Utilize LLMs from OpenAI, Anthropic, and other providers to enhance application functionality, including document review suggestions.
- Collaborate with product management on changes to the React application to improve customer experience.
- Add and improve application functionality by enhancing the Express and tRPC based API.
- Improve the performance and reliability of existing functionality and address user feedback through bug fixes.
- Build and maintain application infrastructure in AWS using AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK).
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
- Perform other responsibilities as required.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Software Development.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain and advocate ideas to a diverse audience.
- Ability to take a product feature from an abstract idea to a production-ready deployed feature.
- Self-starter and problem-solver motivated by curiosity and a desire to help others succeed.
- Team player motivated to help Spellbook succeed and eager to fix issues.
- Firm grasp of software development and computer engineering fundamentals.
- Ability to break down complex customer requirements into clear, achievable plans.
