Mistral AI is seeking Applied Scientists and Research Engineers to drive innovative research and collaborate with clients on complex research projects. You will develop state-of-the-art models across different modalities such as text, image, and speech. Responsibilities
- Run pre-training, post-training, and deployment of state-of-the-art models on large GPU clusters.
- Generate and curate data for pre-training and post-training, focusing on evaluations to ensure model performance exceeds expectations.
- Develop necessary tools and frameworks for data generation, model training, evaluation, and deployment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address complex use cases involving agents and RAG pipelines.
- Manage research projects and client communications with research teams.
Requirements
- Fluent in English with excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Expertise in PyTorch or JAX.
- Ability to contribute to large codebases independently with minimal guidance.
- Proficiency in writing clean, readable, high-performance, and fault-tolerant Python code.
- Demonstrated track record of success through personal, professional, or academic projects.
- PhD or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Mathematics, Physics, Machine Learning) is preferred, but exceptional candidates from other backgrounds will be considered.
- Experience with agents, multi-modality, robotics, diffusion, or time-series research is a plus.
- Experience contributing to a large codebase used by many (open source or industry) is a plus.
- Track record of publications in top academic journals or conferences is a plus.
- Experience improving existing code by fixing typing issues, adding tests, and enhancing CI pipelines is a plus.
