Salesforce is seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Foundations team, which is responsible for the core infrastructure and platform that all other engineering teams build upon. This role involves growing the team from 7 to 12 engineers, driving improvements in delivery, reliability, and technical direction. The ideal candidate will combine deep expertise in platform and infrastructure with strong people leadership, operational rigor, and a proactive approach. This is a high-visibility role focused on shaping the reliability, scalability, and velocity of the entire engineering organization within a high-growth, AI-focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a team of 7-12 engineers, focusing on hiring, development, and maintaining a high technical and cultural bar.
- Foster a high-trust, high-standards culture with a focus on urgency, accountability, and attention to detail.
- Drive quarterly goals with clear milestones and ensure predictable delivery timelines.
- Set technical strategy and architecture for platform and infrastructure initiatives, guiding architectural decisions and trade-offs.
- Ensure strong on-call and incident response discipline, continuously improve platform resiliency, and oversee deployment and release management.
- Drive the adoption of agentic, AI-assisted development practices across the team.
Requirements
- Experience managing platform, infrastructure, or foundational engineering teams in high-growth environments.
- Deep technical fluency in cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and observability.
- Strong software engineering background with proficiency in languages such as Go, Python, TypeScript, or Ruby.
- Experience operating SQL and RDBMS in production at scale (PostgreSQL preferred).
- Proven track record of operational excellence, including building on-call programs and driving incident response.
- Proficiency in agentic, AI-assisted development practices.
- Proactive, outcomes-oriented mindset with strong communication and collaboration skills.
