Salesforce is seeking experienced Technical Builders to serve as Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs). In this role, you will design, build, and deploy agentic AI solutions directly within enterprise customer environments. You will collaborate with a Delivery Team, partnering closely with a Deployment Strategist to co-build solutions that go live in production from day one. Engagements will vary from large strategic customers to multiple accounts, all involving real code, real environments, and measurable business impact. This position focuses on configuration, customization, and full-stack deployment, delivering solutions that customers rely on. This specific posting is for roles supporting Global Public Sector teams, including Government, Nonprofit, and Education.
Responsibilities
- Develop AI agents and experiences that perform real actions for organizations, deployed in production at large enterprises.
- Design agent intelligence, including prompts, reasoning, tool calls, and integration with customer systems using agentic AI platforms and LLM techniques.
- Own technical components end-to-end, from architecture to production deployment, validation, and observability.
- Build and integrate data pipelines on platforms like Salesforce Data 360, Snowflake, and Databricks, including data modeling and validation.
- Build and maintain agent performance dashboards and customer KPI reporting to monitor deployment health and business outcomes.
- Contribute to proofs-of-concept and MVPs, moving from concept to deployable solutions rapidly.
- Co-build solutions with customers and partners, sharing best practices and enabling them to increase their capabilities.
- Identify and report platform gaps, edge cases, and field insights to senior engineers and product teams.
- Translate customer business challenges into deployable agentic solutions in partnership with the Deployment Strategist.
Requirements
- Production experience required; builder mindset is non-negotiable.
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 3+ years of software engineering or technical delivery experience, with at least one production system, ideally in AI tech stack, full-stack development, or working with frontier models.
- Prior customer-facing technical delivery experience (consulting, professional services, or forward deployed engineering) is mandatory.
- Proven experience managing and delivering customer-facing projects within Public Sector, Higher Education, or Nonprofit environments.
- Fluency in at least one of Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or Apex, with willingness to learn others.
- Hands-on experience with LLMs and prompt engineering, including the ability to diagnose and improve prompts.
- Deep understanding of data modeling, APIs, and integration patterns.
- Ability to effectively communicate with sales teams and customer architects.
- Commitment to shipping quality code and evaluating AI outputs with engineering rigor.
- Active engagement with the evolving AI/data landscape, including piloting new tools and models.
- Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time to work directly with customers.
