About the job
We are seeking a technically deep, creativity-driven Applied AI Engineer who is already a power user of AI coding tools and passionate about pushing the boundaries of developer productivity. You will partner directly with engineering leaders and hands-on builders to design, validate, and scale advanced AI workflows, often using Codex to prototype and build the very demos, integrations, and automations customers ultimately adopt. This is a highly cross-functional role that blends technical architecture, product strategy, and customer-facing leadership. You’ll work closely with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Product, Applied Engineering, and the broader Codex organization to advocate for customer needs, shape product direction, and accelerate the successful deployment of intelligent coding systems across some of the world’s most influential companies.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical subject matter expert on OpenAI Codex for customers, enabling their engineering teams and building coding workflows.
- Partner with customers to design and implement AI-enhanced development workflows, from prototyping to production.
- Build demos, reference implementations, and workflow automations, using Codex in the development process.
- Lead workshops and technical deep dives to help engineering organizations adopt AI coding tools.
- Contribute technical content to the OpenAI Cookbook to assist the developer community.
- Gather product insights from customer deployments and translate them into product proposals and feedback.
- Influence customer strategy by framing how AI coding tools fit into their SDLC and workflows.
- Advise on solution architecture, operational readiness, model configuration, security, and best practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of technical consulting, post-sales engineering, solutions architecture, or similar customer-facing experience.
- Active power user of AI coding tools with customized developer workflows.
- Experience building demos, integrations, and prototypes using AI coding tools.
- Experience delivering large, impactful workshops or technical training to engineering teams.
- Experience contributing technical guides, patterns, or examples publicly.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and persuasively.
- Comfort with ambiguous and rapidly evolving problem spaces.
- Commitment to customer success, reliability, safety, and operational excellence.
