We are seeking an experienced Android engineer to bring plugins, connectors, and interactive apps to life on mobile. You will build the Android experiences and platform foundations that help developers extend ChatGPT and enable users to discover and utilize these capabilities from their devices. This role involves working across native Android interfaces, developer-facing APIs, and the systems that support extensibility on mobile. You will collaborate closely with product, design, and platform engineers, taking ownership of features from exploration through implementation, launch, and iteration. Additionally, you will engage directly with developers and partners to understand their workflows and inform the interfaces and abstractions you build.
Responsibilities
- Build Android experiences for plugins, connectors, and interactive apps within ChatGPT.
- Develop reusable Android components and interfaces for a growing ecosystem of developer-built experiences.
- Partner with platform engineers to connect native mobile experiences with APIs, SDKs, and backend systems.
- Collaborate with developers and partners to identify integration challenges and enhance the mobile development experience.
- Improve app performance, reliability, architecture, testing, and developer tooling.
- Own projects from initial requirements through release, measurement, and iteration.
Requirements
- Deep experience building Android applications using Kotlin and modern Android development frameworks.
- Shipped consumer-facing mobile products at scale with a focus on performance, quality, and user experience.
- Platform mindset with experience designing reusable interfaces and abstractions for other developers.
- Enjoy collaborating across engineering, product, and design, and working directly with developers and partners.
- Excited about bringing AI-powered tools and extensible experiences to mobile.
- Thrive in fast-moving environments and contribute to defining product and technical direction.
