About the job

Nvidia is seeking a Distinguished Engineer for Wireless Infrastructure to lead technology strategy for next-generation wireless infrastructure, focusing on AI-RAN and Agentic Core. The role involves applying AI/ML to 6G radio access networks (RAN), transforming the wireless core into an agentic AI-based packet core, and driving rapid prototyping of GPU-accelerated algorithms. You will collaborate with industry partners and customers to bring innovations to market and work with standards bodies like 3GPP and O-RAN to integrate AI-native approaches into future technologies. The position also includes driving development for new applications in Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC), Semantic Communications, and Physical AI at the Edge.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technology strategy for next-generation wireless infrastructure, including systems, platforms, and software architecture.
  • Apply AI/ML techniques to key functions and pipelines within 6G radio access networks (RAN).
  • Transform the wireless core into an agentic AI-based packet core architecture.
  • Drive rapid prototyping of new algorithms to demonstrate the value of GPU-accelerated platforms.
  • Collaborate with industry partners and customers to accelerate innovation into deployable products.
  • Engage with industry standards and consortiums (3GPP, AI-RAN, O-RAN) to drive AI-native approaches for next-generation technology.
  • Drive development of new applications in areas like Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC), Semantic Communications, and Physical AI at the Edge.
  • Oversee system architecture, requirements, design, development, performance optimizations, and benchmarks for AI-for-RAN software stacks.
  • Identify, pathfind, and develop new acceleration technologies for next-generation NVIDIA hardware.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 20+ years of proven industry experience.
  • Deep technical knowledge of communication systems, communication theory, linear algebra, detection and estimation theory, baseband signal processing algorithms, and channel coding.
  • Expertise in architecting and developing RAN applications with proven system-level optimization experience.
  • Proven experience in 5G NR PHY/L1 and L2 MAC scheduler algorithm design and development.
  • Expertise in architecting wireless core technologies, including accelerated user plane function (UPF).
  • Deep expertise in AI and Machine Learning, with proven experience applying AI techniques into RAN (L1, L2+) pipelines.
  • Solid foundation in statistical analysis.
  • Strong understanding of the mathematics behind RAN algorithms.
  • Strong hands-on experience with programming languages such as Python, C/C++, and Matlab.
  • Demonstrable experience working with Telecom Service Providers deploying commercial networks is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated success in leading impactful innovations and converting them into commercial products.
  • Strong exposure to wireless standardization and associated industry consortiums.
  • Proven ability to excel in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
