Metal is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to join a strategic account at a leading private capital firm. This role involves embedding with the customer to own the entire process from scoping to production deployment of AI-driven workflows. You will bridge the gap between a top-tier investment team and their AI evolution, combining engineering expertise with customer empathy to reshape investment firm operations. This is a senior, high-autonomy position focused on delivering tangible customer outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end deployment, from initial scoping to live, reliable production systems, including human-in-the-loop components.
- Configure and deploy high-impact workflows such as CIM and teaser intake, deal scoring, and tailored pipeline views.
- Integrate the customer's existing technology stack, including CRMs and document systems.
- Debug and operate deployed systems, addressing data-model, integration, and workflow issues.
- Partner with customer leaders in AI, automation, deal, and operations to serve as a trusted technical advisor.
- Translate field insights into product direction, influencing the company's roadmap and developing repeatable deployment frameworks.
Requirements
- 3-5+ years of experience building and operating production software systems end-to-end.
- Hands-on experience shipping LLM-powered systems (agents, retrieval, evals).
- Fluency in a rapidly evolving AI toolkit.
- Ability to earn executive trust, lead meetings, and remain hands-on throughout the project lifecycle.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a drive for initiative and defining new processes.
- Comfort with full-stack development and complex integrations.
- Bonus: Depth in private equity, private credit, or financial services.
