About the job
Lucis is building the operating system for human longevity, aiming to make preventive health the default. We are developing AI agents that function as doctors for preventive health, analyzing biomarkers, reasoning over clinical data, and delivering personalized protocols. The system is functional, and the focus is now on enhancing its intelligence, speed, and scalability for millions of users. This role is a hands-on "build" position, not a research one, focused on bridging the gap between LLM demonstrations and a trustworthy AI doctor.
Responsibilities
- Design and ship the multi-agent system for the AI doctor, including reasoning, planning, tool use, clinical citation, and safe fallback mechanisms.
- Develop and manage vector infrastructure, embedding pipelines, and RAG architecture for clinical literature and user health data.
- Build and maintain data pipelines for ingesting and normalizing data from labs, wearables, and third-party partners.
- Ensure production reliability of LLM endpoints, implementing observability, evaluations, and proactive failure mode analysis.
- Collaborate with the medical team to translate complex clinical requirements into agent workflows.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building and shipping software and ML systems in production.
- Proven experience shipping AI agents in production as a core product.
- System-level thinking, encompassing prompts, retrieval, tool orchestration, evaluations, and failure modes.
- Hands-on experience with vector databases, retrieval pipelines, and LLM endpoints.
- Proficiency in Python and familiarity with frameworks like LangChain.
- Experience writing evaluations before shipping code.
- Experience working with messy real-world data (health, finance, legal) and building robust data pipelines.
- A strong passion for health and preventive care.
