Harvey is seeking a leader for its Product Security team to embed security into its engineering organization, enabling rapid and secure development as the company scales. Reporting to the Senior Director of Product Security, this role involves shaping the product security roadmap, leading a team of engineers, and owning defined areas of Harvey's production surface. The position requires close collaboration with product and platform engineers to influence architecture, design decisions, and build security tooling, balancing people leadership with technical judgment to protect customers and simplify secure development.
Responsibilities
- Translate broader security strategy into focused team priorities and measurable outcomes.
- Hire, develop, and lead Product Security Engineers, establishing clear ownership and fostering partnerships with engineering counterparts.
- Align security investments with business priorities and platform realities in collaboration with Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, and Security teams.
- Manage team planning, prioritization, and delivery.
- Provide technical direction on architecture reviews, threat modeling, and remediation.
- Scale team impact through automation, developer tooling, and secure-by-default patterns.
- Improve security standards and engineering practices based on team learnings.
- Communicate risks and progress to engineering leaders and build alignment on priorities.
- Hold the team accountable for meaningful improvements to Harvey's security.
Requirements
- Experience managing Product Security or Application Security engineers at a growing technology company.
- Strong engineering background with deep expertise in modern application security and cloud-native architectures.
- Proven track record of delivering security improvements through engineering, automation, and close partnership with development teams.
- Experience hiring, mentoring, and developing security engineers, focusing on technical growth and clear ownership.
- Ability to translate broader security goals into focused team priorities and measurable results.
- Sound technical judgment and ability to earn credibility with senior engineers and influence cross-functional partners.
