The Finance Engineering team acts as the investment-side counterpart to the Legal Engineering team, bringing real deal experience to Harvey's prospects and customers. Forward Deployed Finance Engineers lead discovery, demos, pilots, trainings, and onboarding, translating real investment work into Harvey solutions and serving as the trust layer across the customer lifecycle. This specific role is the first Finance Engineer dedicated to private credit, responsible for building the credit playbook and leading the practice as the team grows.
Responsibilities
- Lead discovery, demos, pilots, trainings, and onboarding for finance prospects and customers.
- Translate real investment work into Harvey solutions.
- Build the private credit playbook, including demo library, workflow templates, and use cases.
- Run live pilots with lenders on live opportunities.
- Guide lenders through the possibilities of AI in their workflows.
- Build screening, underwriting, and credit committee workflows in the firm's own templates and formats.
- Conduct lender presentation and CIM review.
- Perform QoE read-throughs and data pack analysis.
- Conduct cash flow and leverage modeling.
- Assist with sizing and structuring deals.
- Review covenants and credit agreements.
- Draft credit memos.
- Perform comparable company analysis.
- Conduct compliance certificate review.
- Track covenants.
- Analyze amendments and waivers.
- Prepare quarterly portfolio reporting.
- Gather and integrate credit team feedback into the product roadmap.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience on an investment or underwriting team at a direct lender, private credit fund, BDC manager, or insurer private credit arm.
- Demonstrated ownership of live deal work, including screening, underwriting, diligence workstreams, modeling, structuring, and drafting credit committee materials.
- Experience with asset-based and specialty finance is welcome.
- Experience in leveraged finance, restructuring advisory, or rating-agency roles prior to principal-side experience is welcome, but principal-side deal execution is required.
- Strong understanding of documents and data driving credit decisions (lender presentation, CIM, QoE, data pack, model, credit agreement, intercreditor, compliance certificates).
- Ability to identify discrepancies between numbers and documentation.
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
- Comfort with prompting and agentic AI workflows.
- A builder's instinct for automating manual processes.
- Python, SQL, or experience building internal tools is a plus.
- Executive presence and strong relationship-building skills.
- Ability to establish credibility with stakeholders from analysts to partners and credit committee members.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
- Comfort leading live demos, facilitating workshops, and engaging in technical conversations.
- Deep curiosity about AI's potential in investment work.
- Practical, solutions-oriented mindset with a bias toward action.
- Track record of partnering with senior stakeholders to drive results.
- Curiosity for testing approaches and optimizing for customer outcomes.
