Harvey is seeking a Compensation Business Partner to extend its compensation philosophy, principles, and practices to international markets, initially focusing on EMEA and APAC. This is a unique opportunity to shape Harvey's global compensation strategy as the company scales. The role involves close collaboration with People Business Partners, the recruiting team, business leaders, and the broader Compensation team to ensure compensation programs are competitive, thoughtful, and scalable across diverse markets. The ideal candidate will possess deep compensation expertise combined with strong business judgment, enabling them to analyze market data, advise on complex offers, and develop strategic approaches for new or evolving markets.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary Compensation Business Partner for EMEA and APAC, understanding regional teams, talent markets, and hiring needs.
- Partner with People Business Partners and business leaders on compensation decisions for new hires, promotions, internal mobility, and other complex issues.
- Collaborate closely with the Recruiting team to advise on offers, market competitiveness, and candidate-specific situations.
- Contribute to the evolution of Harvey's international compensation strategy, including geographic differentiation, market positioning, salary structures, and equity.
- Leverage equity expertise to guide compensation discussions in markets with varying candidate expectations regarding US-style equity.
- Research emerging compensation practices and talent trends, particularly within the AI market, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Conduct market analyses using compensation survey data and other sources, applying sound judgment.
- Partner with the broader Compensation team on compensation cycles, benchmarking, band development, and company-wide programs, ensuring international perspectives are integrated.
- Identify and recommend adjustments to US compensation practices for international application as Harvey expands into new markets.
- Develop the infrastructure, principles, and enablement necessary to scale Harvey's international compensation approach.
Requirements
- 5-7+ years of experience in compensation.
- Experience supporting international compensation across EMEA and/or APAC.
- Experience working for a US-headquartered company, with a strong understanding of global compensation program design and adaptation for international markets.
- Significant experience with equity compensation, including advising on equity in markets with different norms.
- Experience in a high-growth startup or scale-up environment.
- Strong knowledge of compensation fundamentals: market benchmarking, salary structures, job leveling, offers, promotions, retention, and pay decisions.
- Exceptional business partnership skills, building trust and challenging assumptions with leaders, PBPs, and recruiters.
- Strong analytical skills and excellent judgment.
- Intellectual curiosity and a drive to become an expert on the AI talent market.
- Comfort operating with ambiguity and building new approaches.
- Ability to communicate complex compensation concepts clearly and credibly to diverse audiences.
