Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end architecture of Harvey's web platform, including Next.js/Vercel, Sanity content layer, and associated services/APIs, prioritizing reliability, performance, and scalability.
- Design and build data foundations and integration patterns to connect the website with marketing, analytics, CRM, and GTM systems, supporting both real-time and batch data flows.
- Establish automation, CI/CD, preview/deploy tooling, and comprehensive automated testing to reduce operational overhead and enhance team velocity.
- Define and implement observability standards, including structured logging, tracing, Core Web Vitals, performance budgets, and alerting, to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Lead the application of AI/ML to web workflows, such as content operations and personalization, acting as a liaison between product and web engineering.
- Collaborate with Security and Infrastructure teams to enhance platform security without compromising developer experience.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a front-end-focused team through code reviews, design discussions, and architectural guidance.
Requirements
- 8+ years of Web Development experience with significant back-end and systems expertise, demonstrating a track record of owning technical architecture at a staff level with scope and ambiguity.
- Proficiency in the modern web stack, including React/Next.js, TypeScript, and server-side rendering, complemented by strong back-end skills in Node, Python, or similar.
- Experience architecting and operating headless CMS and content platforms (e.g., Sanity, Contentful) at scale, including schema design and publishing workflows.
- Proven experience building and operating reliable production systems, including CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, observability tooling, and performance optimization based on real user metrics.
- Fluency with data infrastructure fundamentals such as SQL/NoSQL databases, caching, queuing, and API/webhook integration patterns for marketing and GTM systems.
- Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into production web experiences or content workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers, influence cross-functional teams, and operate autonomously within a small team as the primary technical voice.
