Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end architecture of Harvey's web platform, including Next.js/Vercel application, Sanity content layer, and supporting services/APIs, prioritizing reliability, performance, and scalability.
  • Design and build data foundations and integration patterns to connect the website with marketing, analytics, CRM, and GTM systems, supporting both real-time and batch data flows.
  • Establish automation, CI/CD, preview/deploy tooling, and comprehensive automated testing to enhance team velocity and reduce operational overhead.
  • Define and implement observability standards, including structured logging, tracing, Core Web Vitals, performance budgets, and alerting, to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Lead the application of AI/ML to web workflows, such as content operations and personalization, acting as a liaison between product and web engineering teams.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a small, front-end-focused team through code reviews, design reviews, and architectural guidance.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of Web Development experience with significant back-end and systems expertise.
  • Proven track record of owning technical architecture at a staff level, capable of handling scope and ambiguity.
  • Strong command of the modern web stack including React/Next.js, TypeScript, and server-side rendering.
  • Demonstrated back-end proficiency in Node.js, Python, or comparable languages.
  • Experience architecting and operating headless CMS and content platforms (e.g., Sanity, Contentful) at scale, including schema design and publishing workflows.
  • Proven experience building and operating reliable production systems, including CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, observability tooling, and performance optimization.
  • Fluency with data infrastructure fundamentals such as SQL/NoSQL databases, caching, queuing, and API/webhook integration patterns.
  • Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into production web experiences or content workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, influence cross-functional teams, and operate autonomously as a key technical voice.
