About the job
Harvey is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead its Core Infrastructure team in Bengaluru. This role is crucial for scaling the platform, team, and future Harvey products, focusing on building new systems and hardening existing ones with an emphasis on architecture, scale, and long-term platform leverage. The Core Infrastructure team is responsible for delivering the foundational systems that power all user interactions across Harvey's legal AI platform, processing billions of prompt tokens and millions of daily requests. This is a high-leverage position for a builder-leader who can grow engineers, drive technical execution, and enhance reliability, performance, security, and developer velocity.
Responsibilities
- Lead, hire, and develop a high-agency infrastructure team in Bengaluru, fostering accountability, technical excellence, and mentorship.
- Own delivery for core infrastructure investments including cloud infrastructure, observability, container orchestration, reliability, and platform foundations.
- Partner with Product Engineering, Security, and adjacent platform teams to ensure infrastructure accelerates product delivery.
- Guide technical strategy across multi-cloud infrastructure (Azure, GCP), Kubernetes, networking, container management, and infrastructure as code.
- Drive operational excellence through improved observability, incident response, disaster recovery, runbooks, alerting, and recovery tooling.
- Improve system design quality, harden critical paths, and implement durable solutions for reliability bottlenecks to enable safe scaling.
- Support new product surfaces, including agent workflows, model infrastructure, and large-scale document processing systems, by partnering with AI and product teams.
- Act as a hands-on technical leader in architecture reviews, incident leadership, prioritization, and cross-functional programs.
Requirements
- 4+ years of engineering management experience.
- 10+ years of hands-on infrastructure or platform engineering experience in production environments.
- Deep technical strength in cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, networking, observability, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code tooling (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi).
- Proven track record of designing and scaling reliable distributed systems.
- Strong judgment regarding system design and scaling.
