Harvey is seeking a People Business Partner to support its Product and Design teams, with the potential to expand to other technical organizations. This role is crucial for partnering with Product and Design leaders to build and scale high-performing teams, navigate organizational growth, and adapt to rapidly shifting priorities. The ideal candidate will possess strong judgment, the ability to quickly build credibility with technical leaders, and comfort operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment. Reporting to the Head of People Business Partners, this position collaborates with leaders across technical organizations and the broader People team.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product and Design leaders to build and scale teams, advising on org design, team structure, and effective operations during rapid growth.
  • Coach and challenge leaders on complex people and organizational decisions, providing direct feedback to elevate leadership standards.
  • Drive performance and accountability by partnering with managers on feedback, development, and addressing performance gaps.
  • Manage employee relations matters with sound judgment, balancing individual needs with business requirements.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Product, Design, and Engineering team operations to guide leaders effectively.
  • Help leaders navigate ambiguity, shifting priorities, and evolving structures by bringing clarity to undefined areas.
  • Collaborate with the Head of PBPs and the People team to evolve and implement practices supporting high-performing technical teams.

Requirements

  • 6-10+ years of experience as a People Business Partner, preferably supporting Product, Design, or Engineering teams.
  • Experience working with technical leaders and understanding of product and engineering organizations.
  • Strong judgment and ability to navigate ambiguity, making decisions with incomplete information.
  • Ability to influence and thoughtfully challenge senior leaders.
  • Experience in org design, performance management, and team scaling in high-growth settings.
  • High emotional intelligence and strong communication skills, particularly in sensitive situations.
  • A pragmatic approach focused on business effectiveness.
  • Ability to work from the San Francisco office at least three days per week.
