Responsibilities
- Build Harvey's government affairs and public policy function, including strategy, engagement framework, and stakeholder relationships.
- Define Harvey's policy positions on AI governance, the future of the legal profession, responsible technology deployment, and access to justice.
- Build and maintain direct relationships with policymakers, regulators, bar associations, judicial, legislative, and regulatory bodies globally.
- Develop and shape Harvey's public positioning on key policy issues in partnership with senior leadership and communications.
- Cultivate collaborative relationships with policymakers worldwide, providing informed perspectives on the legal profession and AI policy.
- Advocate for policy positions that support Harvey's product strategy and advance the interests of the legal profession.
- Serve as a strategic bridge between the external policy environment and internal product and go-to-market teams.
- Identify emerging compliance requirements, public-sector opportunities, and ethical considerations related to AI in legal contexts.
- Hire and develop regional government affairs managers and establish operational infrastructure for policy management.
- Ensure Harvey's policy posture is sharp, current, and globally coordinated.
Requirements
- A career with progressive depth in public policy, government affairs, or regulatory work.
- Experience in-house at a major technology or professional services company, or in senior government/regulatory roles, or a senior advisory capacity at a leading firm.
- A policy-first orientation, focusing on educating policymakers and building credibility through substance.
- Demonstrated ability to build a function, set strategy, and establish relationships from a standing start.
- Deep, trusted relationships with senior government, regulatory, and institutional stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions.
- Substantive familiarity with the legal industry, the judiciary, or the regulatory environment around legal services and AI.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) strongly preferred.
