Harvey is transforming how legal and professional services operate by combining frontier agentic AI, an enterprise-grade platform, and deep domain expertise. We are looking for a legal researcher with a strong understanding of how law firms, financial institutions, large corporations, and other organizations deliver professional services and execute complex legal and knowledge work tasks. This role is crucial for accelerating customer workflows with AI systems, requiring a deep understanding of their needs and how AI can be applied.
Responsibilities
- Provide subject-matter expertise to support AI research and development.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and design teams to define and develop AI systems.
- Enhance AI systems through prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and other relevant techniques.
- Create proprietary benchmarks and datasets for evaluating models and AI systems.
- Engage directly with clients to understand workflows, identify pain points, and translate business/legal requirements into technical solutions.
Requirements
- Possess a JD or equivalent post-graduate qualification.
- Have 3-7 years of experience in a law firm, financial institution, or equivalent professional service provider.
- Demonstrate the ability to produce high-quality work under demanding deadlines.
- Effectively communicate complex problems between diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to define positive outcomes in situations with underspecified success criteria.
- Exhibit deep intellectual curiosity and a strong desire to learn across domains.
- Willingness to perform detailed, 'in the trenches' work to train AI models, such as grading answers and analyzing documents.
