About the job
Fieldguide is building a new state of trust for global commerce and capital markets by automating and streamlining the work of assurance and audit practitioners, focusing on cybersecurity, privacy, and financial audits. We are a remote-first company backed by prominent investors and trusted by many top accounting and consulting firms. We value diversity and are committed to building an inclusive, driven, and supportive team culture.
This role is a unique opportunity to join a genuine 0→1 team on the ground floor of a significant company initiative. You will work full-stack on long-horizon agents, shipping features that perform real audit work and collaborating closely with practitioners. Depending on your experience, you may focus on building within a major agent area, owning an end-to-end workstream, or setting technical direction for agentic audit work. We are hiring across all levels and will tailor the role during the interview process.
Responsibilities
- Design and build agent-driven experiences for SOX control testing, determining appropriate levels of autonomy.
- Own complex, end-to-end workstreams across the full stack.
- Improve the reliability, repeatability, performance, and observability of long agentic runs to ensure consistent and defensible conclusions.
- Transform agent output into finished audit deliverables, including adaptable structured workpapers.
- Ship code rapidly and take ownership of significant product areas.
- Collaborate daily with product managers, designers, and SOX subject matter experts on complex domain problems.
- Contribute to shaping technical direction for agentic systems, AI tooling, and engineering best practices.
- Lead complex projects or systems, setting technical direction and ensuring long-term health (Senior level).
- Collaborate with PMs and designers to shape roadmaps and define architectural tradeoffs (Senior level).
- Serve as a domain expert in technical areas like agent orchestration, evaluation, or document processing (Senior level).
- Mentor other engineers and elevate the team's technical capabilities (Senior level).
- Drive company-level technical initiatives and influence cross-team architecture (Staff level).
- Set and champion engineering standards for scalability, security, and performance (Staff level).
- Partner with leadership to define long-term technical strategy (Staff level).
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders across Engineering, Product, and Design (Staff level).
- Represent Fieldguide externally through writing, speaking, and open-source contributions (Staff level).
Requirements

- High degree of ownership and initiative.
- Genuine team player capable of working effectively across engineering, product, design, and domain experts.
- Ability to quickly grasp complex domain concepts.

- Autonomy working from ambiguous specifications.
- Collaborative mindset with ability to work across PM, design, and domain experts.
