About the job
Our Internal Acceleration team is building agents to accelerate the production of frontier tokens. You will work directly with founders and embed with our kernels team to create new agentic harnesses and operating systems, transforming hardware development in an AI-native world. Your success will be measured by the speed of Etched's progress, not just lines of code. This role is ideal for engineers who excel in ambiguity, possess strong product sense, and want end-to-end ownership of critical, time-sensitive problems. This is not a 9-5 role, and we seek candidates excited by that challenge.
Responsibilities
- Embed with the kernels team to identify and own high-leverage bottlenecks, developing tools engineers rely on daily.
- Build and deploy LLM agents integrated into engineering workflows using tool-calling and MCP.
- Develop and launch full-stack internal products, including interfaces, data pipelines, and infrastructure.
- Design evaluations and track adoption to measure effectiveness and guide tool development.
- Undertake special projects with founders, identifying company-wide issues and driving solutions to meet critical milestones.
Requirements
- 1-5+ years of experience building and shipping software end-to-end, preferably at a fast-moving startup.
- Strong full-stack development skills.
- Experience building LLM agents or AI tooling beyond simple API calls, including context engineering, tool integration, evaluations, and failure analysis.
- Proficiency in using AI for rapid learning in new domains, with agentic coding tools and frontier models as primary work methods.
- Demonstrated product sense, design taste, and extreme attention to detail.
- High degree of agency, with the ability to identify and solve core problems.
