Decagon is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Product to join their Product Engineering team. This role will focus on building the core platform that enables customers to create, operate, and improve their AI agents. You will design and build systems that allow customers to configure, train, test, and monitor sophisticated AI agents with confidence, balancing strong engineering with user-friendly abstractions. You will collaborate closely with product and design teams, own features end-to-end from architecture to deployment, and stay connected to customer use cases to ensure the product meets their needs.
Responsibilities
- Eliminate manual work by building self-serve functionality for agent configuration, training, and deployment.
- Design configuration abstractions that balance power and simplicity for diverse enterprise use cases.
- Build AI-powered tooling for CX and ops teams to manage complex agent workflows without coding.
- Develop monitoring, tracing, and analytics to surface actionable insights for agent performance.
- Handle agentic systems at scale, impacting critical flows for Fortune 100 companies.
- Run evaluations on new text and voice models and integrate successful ones into production.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building software products with strong product thinking.
- Proficiency in Python and comfort working across the full stack.
- Experience translating complex technical capabilities into simple, usable interfaces.
- Strong instincts for complex systems, including asynchronous programming and at-scale failure modes.
- High comfort level debugging system failures in deep technology stacks.
- Ability to turn customer asks into clear, well-scoped product and technical specifications.
- Good judgment regarding when to ship fast versus build correctly.
