Decagon is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Product to join their Product Engineering team. This role involves designing and building systems that enable customers to configure, train, test, and monitor sophisticated AI agents with confidence. You will collaborate closely with product and design teams, own features end-to-end from architecture to deployment, and stay connected to customer use cases to ensure the delivered solutions meet their needs. The Product Engineering team is crucial for scaling Decagon's platform, building frameworks that support every agent in production and developing the agents themselves to identify and address failure modes.
Responsibilities
- Eliminate manual work by building self-serve functionality for agent configuration, training, and deployment.
- Design configuration abstractions that balance power and simplicity for diverse enterprise use cases.
- Build AI-powered tooling for CX and ops teams to manage complex agent workflows without coding.
- Develop monitoring, tracing, and analytics to surface actionable insights for agent performance.
- Handle agentic systems at scale, impacting critical flows for Fortune 100 companies.
- Evaluate and integrate new text and voice models into production traffic.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience building software products with strong product thinking.
- Proficiency in Python and experience across the full stack.
- Experience translating complex technical capabilities into simple, usable interfaces.
- Strong instincts for complex systems, including asynchronous programming and large-scale failure modes.
- Comfort debugging system failures in deep technology stacks.
- Ability to turn customer requests into clear product and technical specifications.
- Good judgment regarding when to ship fast versus build correctly.
