Decagon is seeking an Engineering Lead for Strategic Deals to own the technical build for 1-3 major customer engagements end-to-end. This role involves working directly with senior engineering and product leaders at the world's largest companies to understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions. You will decide what Decagon should build, lead a pod of engineers to deliver the solution, and ensure it's production-ready and scalable. This position sits at the intersection of product strategy and technical execution, shaping both individual deployments and the core Decagon product.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical build end-to-end for strategic deals, from POC through post-close stabilization.
- Drive technical requirements directly with customer engineering and product leaders.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks early in the deal lifecycle.
- Translate bespoke deal requirements into durable improvements for the core Decagon product.
- Tech-lead a pod of 1-3 Software Engineers per deal, setting technical direction and mentoring team members.
Requirements
- 5+ years of industry experience in software engineering.
- Strong engineering leadership or ex-technical founder background.
- Appetite for customer-facing work.
- Comfort owning high-stakes accounts with significant ambiguity.
- Ability to quickly assess technical paths, weigh risks, and make decisions under pressure.
- Experience productionizing agentic systems is a bonus.
