About the job

We are seeking a Partner Engineer to manage the technical relationships with Databricks' strategic AI partners, including Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google Gemini. In this high-impact role, you will be responsible for co-owning the joint roadmap with partner product teams, driving the development of integrations that enhance both platforms, and actively engaging with new product features and tooling. You will collaborate with partners to create Proofs of Concept (POCs), demonstrations, and hands-on labs that will ultimately form the architectures our customers deploy. This position offers direct visibility to our founders and executives and sits within the Partner Engineering team, working closely with Product, Engineering, Strategic Partnerships, and Global Go-to-Market teams.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for AI labs, building relationships with senior product and engineering stakeholders to foster joint innovation.
  • Collaborate with technical executives to shape the joint product roadmap by translating partner capabilities and integration needs into Databricks platform requirements.
  • Navigate complex relationships to align on joint product offerings that meet the needs of Databricks, partner organizations, and customers.
  • Design and build integrations that connect and extend both platforms, acting as the hands-on technical expert and early validator of new capabilities.
  • Develop POCs and reference architectures that can be handed off to engineering teams for productization or to customers for deployment.
  • Engage with strategic customers to align their AI architecture and roadmap needs with Databricks and partner offerings.
  • Create and maintain technical field enablement content to equip internal and external teams with the knowledge and tools to deliver joint architectures and articulate differentiated value propositions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in field engineering, consulting, platform architecture, or AI systems development, with a proven ability to quickly master new technologies and manage multiple partners.
  • Deep understanding of how AI systems are built and operated in production, including model serving, inference, retrieval, and agent frameworks, as well as AI product development, delivery, and adoption.
  • Hands-on engineering skills, including the ability to develop POCs, build demos, and debug integrations effectively with partner engineering teams and customers.
  • Experience with Python and REST APIs and SDKs.
  • Established relationships within the product and engineering functions of major AI labs and cloud providers.
  • Experience in strategic technical partnerships, managing multi-company engineering initiatives, building cross-organizational consensus, and leading architectural discussions.
  • Deep knowledge of the Databricks platform and the ability to design AI architectures spanning Databricks and partner products.
  • Strong communication and influence skills, with the ability to present to engineering teams and executives, and to translate between Product, Engineering, and partner teams.
  • Availability for global travel to partner sites, conferences, and events as required.

Benefits

  • Eligibility for annual performance bonus
  • Equity
  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off
