About the job

We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Review Engineering team, comprising over 20 engineers across three squads in the US and India. This role is responsible for building workflows and capabilities that enable clinical operations staff to deliver care efficiently and with high quality. You will own the reliability and technical direction of Review's systems, collaborating closely with Product, Design, Security, Clinical Operations, and peer engineering teams. This is a remote-first position with opportunities to shape a critical part of Cohere's platform and develop future engineering leaders in health technology.

Responsibilities

  • Lead 20+ engineers across multiple agile squads (US and India) through dedicated technical leads.
  • Own production reliability for Review-owned systems, including incident response, root-cause analysis, and cross-functional tiger teams.
  • Set technical vision and provide leadership across design and sprint processes, partnering with Staff Engineers.
  • Drive delivery transparency through sprint metrics, identifying risks and informing data-driven interventions.
  • Partner with Product, Design, Security, Clinical Ops, and peer engineering teams on shared systems and initiatives.
  • Manage hiring, leveling, and career growth for direct reports and their leads, focusing on attracting and retaining top talent.
  • Foster a culture that develops early-career engineers into future health-tech leaders with a bias toward team autonomy.
  • Champion testing, quality, and security practices in a regulated (HIPAA/SOC2) environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years managing software engineering teams in a fast-paced, agile environment, including 3+ years leading multiple teams through technical leads or managers.
  • Experience leading distributed/multi-site teams across time zones (e.g., US/India), including partnering with groups outside your direct reporting line.
  • Hands-on full-stack engineering background.
  • Proven ability to own production systems and incident response, ideally in a regulated (healthcare, HIPAA/SOC2) environment.
  • Strong grounding in modern development practices (version control, unit testing, CI/CD).
  • Experience designing and scaling distributed/microservices systems for high-throughput, high-growth products.
  • A passion for quality products and high-performing, autonomous teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or software engineering.

Benefits

  • Fully remote opportunity
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, disability insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • 401K retirement plan with company match
  • Flexible spending and health savings account
  • Flex Time Off + company holidays
  • Up to 14 weeks of paid parental leave
  • Pet insurance
