Clay is experiencing rapid growth, and this IT Operations Engineer role is crucial for maintaining the reliability and operational integrity of our IT infrastructure. Sitting between the IT Support Team and the Systems Engineer, this position will own the operational layer, including systems of record, vendor relationships, and essential IT tooling. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of ownership, a meticulous approach to detail, and a preference for building durable processes over reactive problem-solving. This role offers the opportunity to operate and maintain systems as they mature, with involvement in their build-out alongside the Head of IT and Systems Engineer, and will partner on change management and IT projects.
Responsibilities
- Own and operate the Mac fleet using MDM (e.g., Iru), including configuration profiles, zero-touch enrollment, custom scripts, and remediation.
- Manage the Windows footprint, including MDM administration.
- Own the CMDB and asset data, maintaining the source of truth for all IT assets and systems.
- Manage the ITAM vendor relationship for procurement, deployment, and collection of hardware.
- Ensure data accuracy and reconciliation across systems (IdP, HR) for asset tracking.
- Manage vendor relationships, track contracts, handle renewals, and ensure license compliance for SaaS and hardware.
- Assist in maintaining SOC 2 and ISO 27001 compliance benchmarks for IT, focusing on offboarding, access reviews, and evidence collection.
- Administer and govern the SaaS stack, including Google Workspace, Slack, and Zoom, managing provisioning, settings, and access hygiene.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation for systems and processes, including runbooks and configuration records.
- Partner on change management processes for IT changes and contribute to IT projects and deployments.
- Handle escalations from the Support team related to owned systems and tooling.
Requirements
- 6-8+ years in IT, with significant experience in senior operations, systems, or infrastructure roles.
- Proven track record of operating and maintaining IT systems at scale.
- Deep hands-on experience with MDM solutions like Iru or Jamf Pro, including configuration profiles, zero-touch enrollment, and scripting.
- Proficiency in Bash scripting for macOS management.
- Familiarity with Windows MDM for managing a small footprint.
- Extensive experience with Okta administration, including application integrations, group/access management, and troubleshooting.
- Experience working within SOC 2 and ISO 27001 compliance frameworks in an IT context.
- Experience owning ITAM or a CMDB, including asset tracking, inventory reconciliation, and cross-system data integrity.
- Demonstrated vendor management experience, including contracts, renewals, license management, and accountability.
- Broad SaaS administration experience across Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, and modern tech stacks.
- Strong documentation skills and a proactive approach to maintaining records.
