Clay is seeking a Manager, GTM Engineering - Seller Efficiency to build and lead a team dedicated to making our sales operations faster, smarter, and more effective. This role involves managing a team of GTM Engineers while remaining hands-on with complex technical challenges, setting strategic direction, and ensuring all automations measurably enhance sales processes. You will collaborate closely with the Head of Sales to transform intricate business problems into sophisticated technical solutions and foster the development of engineers who approach challenges as builders rather than order-takers.
Responsibilities
- Build and own core sales workflow systems such as book carving, ROE automation, signal detection, and pipeline intelligence, staying hands-on with technical challenges.
- Dogfood new features, extend the platform into new use cases, and provide product feedback from the field.
- Partner with sales leadership to understand operational bottlenecks, translate requirements into technical roadmaps, and prioritize impactful projects.
- Develop and implement intake and prioritization frameworks to ensure team focus on strategic impact.
- Hire, manage, and grow a team of 3-5 GTM Engineers, mentoring them into strategic problem-solvers.
- Establish and maintain high standards for code quality, documentation, observability, and system governance.
- Design and implement scalable tooling and automation to surface relevant context at critical moments.
- Track and measure the performance, adoption, and business impact of built systems, iterating based on feedback.
- Act as an internal thought partner on the future of AI-native GTM strategies.
- Build a high-performing and supportive team culture.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building revenue systems, including RevOps, GTM Engineering, or sales systems engineering.
- Strong proficiency in Python, JavaScript, SQL, or TypeScript, with the ability to review code, debug issues, and contribute directly to the codebase.
- Proven track record of deploying AI-powered internal tools, automations, or agentic workflows at scale.
- Experience with data warehouses, BI tools, ETL/reverse ETL systems, and event-driven architectures.
- 3+ years of experience managing technical teams in a hypergrowth environment, with a focus on hiring, developing talent, and driving operational excellence.
- Exceptional prioritization skills and the ability to sequence work for maximum business impact.
- Ability to communicate concisely and confidently with non-technical GTM leaders.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in ambiguous and fluid environments.
- Bonus: Experience building in Clay, background in analytics engineering, data science, or full-stack software engineering.
- Bonus: Experience scaling a GTM Engineering function from 0→1 or 1→5+ people.
