Clay is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and grow a high-performing engineering team as the company scales through rapid growth. This role involves taking ownership of the team's mission and objectives, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions to critical challenges. The manager will foster an engaged, motivated, and collaborative team culture, supporting the professional development of each team member. Collaboration with product, design, support, and other engineering teams will be key to scaling and improving the product, with ample opportunities to tackle interesting problems and technical challenges.
Responsibilities
- Define team purpose and areas of ownership, ensuring goals are understood and internalized.
- Introduce principles and frameworks for team-based prioritization decisions.
- Set and update the team roadmap in collaboration with Product Managers.
- Allocate team members to work, determining assignments and timelines.
- Build and grow a motivated team that works well together and supports individual career goals.
- Actively recruit, interview, and onboard top engineering talent.
- Contribute to and lead engineering-wide initiatives for excellence and scalability.
- Own team outcomes by introducing processes for smooth execution and accountability.
- Interface with the rest of the organization on behalf of the team.
Requirements
- 2+ years of management experience.
- 6+ years of overall software development experience.
- Experience managing and coaching 3+ direct reports for growth and success in a fast-paced environment.
- Track record of building scalable, high-performance systems with a focus on customer delight and user experience.
- Empathetic communicator with the ability to express nuanced ideas clearly to different audiences.
- Prioritize curiosity over confrontation in disagreements, ensuring all feel heard and understood.
- Familiarity with the current tech stack or ability to learn new technologies quickly.
