About the job
Broccoli is building AI teammates for contractors to manage their businesses, handling tasks like answering phones, booking appointments, and recovering revenue. We've grown rapidly to over $15M ARR in under two years, backed by Khosla Ventures and Y Combinator. We are seeking our first dedicated data hire to build and own the unified data layer that powers our customer dashboards, internal analytics, and AI tools.
This role involves designing and implementing data pipelines, modeling data into clean and documented tables, and establishing a source-of-truth library for metrics and definitions. You will work closely with the Strategy & Ops team and engineering to ensure data is reliable, consistent, and accessible for both human users and AI agents. The ideal candidate will own the data architecture, tooling choices, and ensure the trustworthiness of all data within the company.
Responsibilities
- Build and run reliable data ingestion pipelines from various sources into ClickHouse, selecting appropriate tooling.
- Model raw data into clean, documented tables, including entity resolution to ensure consistent customer identification across different data sources.
- Develop a source-of-truth library with canonical views and metric definitions for all dashboards and analyses.
- Structure data models, definitions, and documentation to be easily queryable by both people and AI agents.
- Implement freshness checks, quality tests, and alerts to maintain data integrity and proactively identify pipeline issues.
- Perform ad-hoc analyses, segment investigations, and address partner data requests.
- Collaborate with engineering to understand data production systems and influence architectural decisions for better data usability.
Requirements
- 4-8+ years of experience in data or analytics engineering, with end-to-end production pipeline development and operation.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and solid experience with Python.
- Hands-on experience with ETL tooling (e.g., Airbyte, Fivetran, Dagster, dbt) and orchestration.
- Experience with columnar/OLAP data warehouses (ClickHouse preferred; BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift acceptable).
- Demonstrated skill in data modeling, designing tables for others to query, and understanding the meaning of data.
- Self-directed with experience as the primary data person or building a data platform from scratch.
- Experience with multi-source identity/entity resolution.
- Exposure to customer-facing or multi-tenant analytics with strict data isolation.
- Familiarity with B2B SaaS operational data (calls, bookings, jobs, billing) or CRM/field-service data.
