Mistral AI is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to drive the adoption of its products among customers and collaborate with them to address complex technical challenges. This role is integral to the Applied AI Engineering team, focusing on successful deployment of Mistral AI products and building complex enterprise use-cases. You will work hand-in-hand with customers from pre-sale to post-implementation, ensuring solutions meet and exceed client expectations. You will manage customer relations involving multiple stakeholders and serve as a key resource in externalizing our research into production settings.
Responsibilities
- Deploy production use cases with significant business impact across various industries.
- Work on state-of-the-art GenAI applications for consumer products and industrial use cases, driving technological transformation with customers.
- Collaborate with researchers, AI engineers, and product engineers on complex customer projects, including fine-tuning, LLM applications, and contributing to open-source codebases for inference and fine-tuning.
- Participate in pre-sales calls to understand client needs, provide technical guidance on products, and explain Mistral technologies.
- Collaborate with product and science teams to continuously improve product and model capabilities based on customer feedback.
Requirements
- Fluent in English.
- PhD or Master's degree in AI/data science, or equivalent self-taught expertise.
- 7-10+ years of experience as a technical individual contributor (data scientist or software engineer) on AI-based products.
- Experience in fine-tuning LLMs, tackling advanced RAG or agentic use cases.
- Deep understanding of machine learning and LLM concepts and algorithms.
- Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure and deploying AI-based products.
- Experience deploying or building products with a large user base.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
