About the job
You.com is seeking a Developer Evangelist to build in public and make their Search, Contents, and Research APIs the go-to retrieval layer for AI agents, coding tools, and agent frameworks. In this role, you will create demos, sample applications, integrations, and open-source contributions, sharing your work through various developer channels like GitHub, Discord, Reddit, and livestreams. You will also be the technical and creative lead for hackathons and developer events, driving developer adoption and community engagement. This position is part of the Developer-Led Growth (DLG) team, with success measured by tangible developer adoption and retention.
Responsibilities
- Build demos, sample apps, starter kits, and reference integrations for the agent stack to facilitate quick developer adoption.
- Contribute to open-source projects with You.com integrations and examples to serve as learning resources for developers.
- Create engaging content such as short videos, livestreams, tutorials, and blog posts based on launches and integrations.
- Manage You.com's developer presence on Discord and Reddit, engaging with users and co-building with engineers.
- Participate authentically in other AI builder communities, including partner Discords and open-source forums.
- Foster a dedicated You.com builder community that actively uses the APIs.
- Collaborate with the Brand and Social team to bring technical content to X and LinkedIn.
- Shape the programming for hackathons and developer events, focusing on novel builds.
- Manage the DLG side-event calendar around major conferences.
- Speak at conferences and meetups, and assist other engineers in securing speaking opportunities.
- Leverage your network to promote You.com on podcasts, streams, and newsletters.
- Establish a champion program to empower technical builders to host local You.com events.
- Identify and nurture power users into contributors, speakers, and advocates.
- Create feedback loops with Product and Engineering to report friction points and identify new use cases.
- Set and achieve adoption goals, including signups, activation, and API usage from community channels.
Requirements
- Engineering background with hands-on experience shipping code in Python and/or TypeScript.
- Experience building with LLM APIs, agents, MCP, and modern AI developer tools.
- Demonstrated track record of building in public via GitHub, blog posts, videos, livestreams, or talks.
- Strong connections within the developer and open-source community, preferably with West Coast reach.
- Experience speaking at conferences and organizing technical events like meetups or hackathons.
- Proficient and prolific writer, comfortable on camera, streaming, and podcasting.
- Possess an authentic, non-marketing-driven voice that resonates with developers.
- Highly proactive and capable of building programs from scratch.
