Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the Writer Design System (WDS), optimizing it for both human and AI agent use.
- Design and build production-quality UI components and features, managing them from concept to completion.
- Deliver design-led enhancements such as polish passes, micro-interactions, and brand moments.
- Architect new primitives and extend core system components, influencing technical direction and maintaining documentation.
- Ensure high standards for front-end development, including accessibility, motion design, consistency, and quality.
- Contribute to the design-to-code workflow by researching tools and practices to improve productivity.
- Collaborate with designers, PMs, and engineering leads to track WDS adoption and ensure adherence to standards.
Requirements
- 4-8+ years of experience building production frontends with TypeScript and React.
- Proven track record of owning a system, platform, or surface end-to-end.
- Strong understanding of animation principles.
- Expert proficiency in Figma, including auto-layout, variants, variables, and code connect.
- Proficiency with design engineering technologies like framer-motion, gsap, and lottie.
- Demonstrated commitment to craft, evidenced by a portfolio or projects showcasing systems-level work.
- Experience driving adoption of a design system or shared platform across an engineering organization.
- Experience with AI product surfaces such as tool-call UIs, streaming responses, agent state, and dynamic UI rendering.
- Ability to navigate ambiguous, cross-team problems effectively.
