Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the Writer Design System (WDS), optimizing it for both human and AI agent use.
  • Design and build production-quality UI components and features, managing them from initial concept to completion.
  • Ship design-led enhancements, such as polish passes and micro-interactions, to improve the product's user experience.
  • Architect new primitives and extend core system components, influencing technical direction and ensuring documentation and libraries are up-to-date.
  • Maintain high standards for front-end development, focusing on accessibility, motion, consistency, and overall quality.
  • Contribute to the design-to-code workflow by researching and implementing tools and practices to boost productivity.
  • Collaborate with designers, PMs, and engineering leads to track WDS adoption and ensure feature compliance with design system standards.

Requirements

  • 4-8+ years of experience building production frontends using TypeScript and React, with a history of owning systems or platforms end-to-end.
  • Strong understanding of animation principles, including easing curves, choreography, and perceived performance.
  • Expert proficiency in Figma, including auto-layout, variants, variables, and code connect.
  • Proficiency with design engineering technologies such as framer-motion, gsap, and lottie for web animation.
  • A portfolio or demonstrable work showcasing systems-level contributions.
  • Experience driving the adoption of a design system or shared platform across an engineering organization.
  • Familiarity with AI product surfaces like tool-call UIs, streaming responses, agent state, and dynamic UI rendering.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguous, cross-team problems with sound judgment.
