Weaviate is seeking a Director of Product to own product strategy and decision-making for their AI-native vector database, cloud offering, and agent products. This role involves significant customer interaction to understand enterprise requirements and translate them into a product roadmap that engineering can execute. The Director will work closely with the CTO on vision and tech leads on feasibility, acting as a player-coach by managing a small product team while also owning specific product areas. The ideal candidate is comfortable engaging with enterprise customers, making data-driven prioritization decisions, and collaborating effectively with engineering teams, understanding the trade-offs involved in product development.
Responsibilities
- Translate customer needs and enterprise requirements into a prioritized product roadmap.
- Conduct customer conversations to gather insights for product development.
- Define and track success metrics for new features.
- Manage stakeholder expectations regarding roadmap changes.
- Partner with engineering leads on feature sequencing, feasibility, and dependencies.
- Establish product planning and execution processes.
- Hire and develop product managers.
- Collaborate with Go-To-Market and marketing teams on product launches.
Requirements
- 8+ years of product management experience, including hands-on individual contributor work.
- Experience with enterprise customers, including discovery, requirements gathering, and expectation management.
- Proven ability to quantify business impact of roadmap decisions and defend prioritization.
- Comfort in technically deep domains like databases, data infrastructure, or distributed systems.
- Experience running product processes using tools like Linear.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Some people management experience or readiness to manage a small team.
- Availability to work during GMT to ET working hours.
