About the job
Turing's Enterprise AI unit is seeking a Forward-Deployed AI Engineer to join its initial team. This role operates with the speed and focus of a startup, defining the frontier of applied AI in the workplace. You will own outcomes end-to-end, from identifying high-value customer problems and shaping architecture to building production systems and collaborating directly with senior client leaders. This is an intellectually challenging role focused on developing generative AI solutions that drive measurable impact and ROI within large institutions.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with customers to uncover high-value opportunities and translate business needs into technical direction.
- Architect and build production AI systems, including multi-agent workflows, orchestration, tool use, context engineering, memory and state, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
- Develop APIs, data pipelines, integrations, and distributed systems for reliable, scaled AI solutions.
- Own the entire lifecycle of AI solutions from discovery through deployment and measurable impact.
- Manage evaluation, observability, security, reliability, latency, scalability, and cost of AI systems.
- Create processes and playbooks by applying expertise, judgment, and technical depth.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building and operating sophisticated software systems.
- Expertise in Python, backend systems, APIs, databases, distributed systems, system design, and cloud infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience building production LLM and agent systems using orchestration, tool use, context engineering, memory and state, retrieval, and multistep workflows.
- Proven track record of taking complex systems from architecture through deployment and scale.
- Practical understanding of evaluation, observability, reliability, security, guardrails, latency, scalability, and cost.
- Exceptional customer and technical leadership skills.
- Ability to enter unfamiliar environments, earn trust quickly, navigate ambiguity, challenge assumptions constructively, and communicate effectively with senior engineers and business executives.
