About the job
At Together AI, you will be responsible for the systems and tooling that enable engineers to ship code quickly and reliably. This includes CI/CD pipelines, release infrastructure, local development environments, and testing systems. This is a build-heavy, high-leverage role where you will drive large projects end-to-end, focusing on building the infrastructure that makes manual effort unnecessary and allows engineers to concentrate on product development.
Responsibilities
- Build and own production systems including release services with deployment orchestration, reusable CI/CD pipelines, and self-service tooling.
- Develop testing infrastructure, frameworks, and harnesses for fast and reliable tests, and diagnose system-level issues with flaky tests and slow builds.
- Construct and maintain local development environments and containerized workflows for rapid iteration.
- Create starter templates and shared tooling like CLIs, codegen, and IDE integrations to expedite new service creation.
- Serve as the primary contact for GitHub Actions and GitOps, resolving pipeline issues and enhancing organizational workflows.
- Enhance front-end build tooling and developer workflows in collaboration with product engineers.
- Identify and resolve organizational friction points at their root cause, and document developed solutions for broader use.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building production software, with a proven track record of owning systems or services from design to operation.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, with experience building and operating real services.
- Proficiency in Python, Go, and JavaScript/TypeScript for tooling, automation, and enablement.
- Deep experience with CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, GitOps) and building scalable, reusable pipelines.
- Experience with containerized development workflows and local dev tooling (e.g., Skaffold).
- Experience building starter templates and scaffolding with engineering teams to accelerate new service creation.
- Hands-on experience with AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) and a habit of using them to improve productivity.
- A builder's mindset with strong ownership, enjoying the creation of tools and systems for others.
- Rigor in diagnosing systemic issues such as flaky tests, build latency, and deployment failures.
- Kubernetes expertise (EKS, K3s) and experience optimizing containerized builds (nice to have).
- Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi) (nice to have).
- Familiarity with front-end tooling (React, Next.js, Jest) to optimize front-end dev workflows (nice to have).
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Honeycomb) for debugging bottlenecks (nice to have).
