About the job
Anthropic is seeking a Threat Collections Engineer to join its Threat Intelligence team. This foundational engineering role involves building the infrastructure critical for threat discovery. You will integrate external data sources, develop automated detection systems for lead generation, and create internal tooling to enhance investigator impact. The position offers the opportunity to take projects from initial concept through to production, collaborating closely with investigators to understand their needs and scale the collections function.
Responsibilities
- Build automated detection systems using disparate signals to identify abusive behavior.
- Develop systems from concept to production, including monitoring, documentation, and maintenance.
- Develop and maintain YARA rule infrastructure for writing, validating, and testing rules.
- Create integrations with external threat intelligence platforms (e.g., VirusTotal, Censys, Urlscan) via MCP servers.
- Build data pipelines to ingest intelligence from RSS feeds, CTI news sources, and partner sharing, using Claude for TTP extraction and hunting query generation.
- Develop behavioral analytics capabilities using DBT-based frameworks and create searchable audit logging infrastructure.
- Establish feedback loops with investigators to tune detection systems and reduce false positives.
- Scrape and normalize data from external sources for threat detection and enrichment workflows.
Requirements
- Strong coding proficiency in Python and SQL for detection logic, data pipelines, and automation.
- Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools (Airflow, DBT, or similar).
- Familiarity with threat intelligence concepts including IOCs, YARA rules, and threat correlation techniques.
- Experience integrating external APIs and building data ingestion systems.
- Ability to translate investigator needs and workflows into technical requirements.
- Comfort building v0 systems and iterating based on user feedback.
- Strong communication skills for working with non-engineering stakeholders.
Benefits
- Annual compensation range: $300,000 - $320,000 USD
- Visa sponsorship available
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
- Hybrid work policy (at least 25% in office)
