Synthesia is seeking a Research Engineer to join their Data team, which manages the entire data lifecycle for researchers, from sourcing and processing to delivering datasets that power their AI models. This role sits at the intersection of applied research, data engineering, and ML infrastructure. You will be instrumental in building a world-class human-centric data lake by collaborating with model training teams, understanding their needs, and extracting new features and annotations to enhance datasets. The ideal candidate is passionate about improving model performance through high-quality data and will have the opportunity to enhance existing infrastructure and influence the team's long-term strategy.
Responsibilities
- Manage the complete lifecycle of data for researchers, including sourcing, large-scale processing, and dataset delivery.
- Build and enhance a human-centric data lake by collaborating with model training teams.
- Extract new features and annotations to elevate datasets and improve model performance.
- Enhance existing data infrastructure and pipelines.
- Influence the team's longer-term data strategy.
Requirements
- Strong background in data-centric, applied Machine Learning.
- Hands-on experience improving model performance through data quality, curation, labeling, and evaluation.
- Experience working on the data layer of Generative AI products, particularly involving images, video, or audio.
- Excellent Python skills with a focus on clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
- Experience designing, building, and operating workflow orchestration systems and large-scale data processing pipelines is a plus.
